Last week, the LamasaTech team proudly exhibited at the Retail Technology Show at the ExCel in London. Returning for our second year, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant carnival-themed exhibition that is seen as retail’s best networking platform, attracting the industry’s most ground-breaking pioneers.

Since we attended the event last year, we have continued to make leaps and bounds in the retail world and have dramatically expanded our retail presence, recently delivering a nationwide roll-out of front-of-store displays for the Co-op Media Network (you can see the case study here).

We collaborated with leading innovators across the industry to offer comprehensive retail solutions to help increase footfall, enhance user experience, and boost order values – including StrongPoint, SoundHound AI, NowSignage, Cloudshelf, M-Cube, Ordu and 1956 Individuals.

The LamasaTech Stand

This year marked a significant venue change, from Olympia to ExCeL London. The exhibition hall was filled with Europe’s most forward-thinking retailers eagerly scouting for their next technological breakthrough, while tech innovators showcased their most impressive solutions designed to transform the retail landscape.

For our stand, we incorporated our signature green lighting to create a distinctive visual beacon that guided visitors to our stand, complimenting our bright and stunning displays.

Key Challenges Facing Retailers This Year

After two days at the event talking to retailers, two conversation topics consistently emerged: the challenge of running a streamlined retail media network and effectively implementing AI in retail spaces.

Streamlining retail media networks

Many retailers revealed they’re operating with fragmented technology across different platforms, creating significant integration challenges in stores. This disjointed approach makes controlling advertiser spending difficult and complicates advertising deployment across multiple devices and locations.

Retailers are looking for hardware providers who can offer a range of displays for their stores working off the same operating system to simplify deployment.

They’re also seeking a platform, such as a cloud-based digital signage system, which will allow them to control their advertisements remotely as they move away from manual intervention and content uploads through USB sticks.

Using AI to improve operations

Conversations at the show revealed AI implementation is on many retailers’ roadmaps, though most are still in the early stages. The consensus was clear that AI should complement retail staff rather than replace them.

For example, a retailer that we spoke with was interested in how an AI in-store assistant could help explain complex products to a customer and express recommendations when a member of staff was not available. 

Another retailer expressed interest in AI wayfinding capabilities that could guide customers directly to product locations, simplifying store navigation and enhancing the shopping experience.

Essentially, It’s all about improving the customer experience.

We are truly in the midst of an era where AI is due to have a big impact on this sector. Recent research shows that 80% of US retailers plan to increase the use of automation and AI across their operations to adapt to changing consumer behaviours, enhance employee skills and improve efficiency for shoppers. And 35% of major US retailers plan to ‘significantly’ increase their AI investment.

Over at StrongPoint’s stand, they were showcasing their Vensafe kiosk and dispenser systems which provide retailers with a secure collection point for age-restricted and high-theft products purchased through both self-checkout and staffed checkouts and are powered by our versatile digital signage displays.

This innovative retail solution helps retailers:

Over at M-Cube‘s stand, they were showcasing our innovative Versi Digital Signage Kiosk, featuring an integrated HD camera with advanced facial recognition, audience measurement, and powerful analytics capabilities.

This powerful retail solution transforms customer engagement by providing real-time insights into shopper behaviour and preferences, optimising advertising effectiveness.

Revolutionary drive-thru ordering

Earlier this year we collaborated with SoundHound AI. Over at our stand we displayed LamasaTech’s sleek Versi outdoor kiosk, featuring advanced front speakers, a precision AI-tailored microphone, and an intelligent camera with SoundHound’s innovative voice-enabled technology, we’re creating a seamless, efficient ordering solution.

For the event, we partnered with NowSignage who powered all our digital signage and UHB window displays.

Streamlined customer ordering

Collaborating with Ordu, we showcased our self-service kiosks that are set to streamline operational processes, increase staff productivity and enhance the quality of service.

Combining Ordu software with LamasaTech’s kiosks gives customers greater control when deciding what to order and reduces the margin for human error in the ordering process.

Blending the online and in-store experience

For the second year running at this event, we have partnered with Cloudshelf.

Cloudshelf has created a platform that allows retailers to create engaging in-store experiences, they connect to your e-commerce store and provide shoppers with optimised in-store digital interactive and display experiences.

Through Versi digital kiosks, customers can find, choose and buy the product they want, leaving satisfied.

As retailers cannot often stock the whole product range in store, this offers a way for them to bring all their products into the store virtually.

Retail Technology Show 2025

We had a great time exhibiting at the Retail Technology Show again this year, networking with retailers and enjoying the opportunity to be around other tech pioneers.
